Very skilled hands at the Hobart School for Mussulman Girls in Madras used zardozi and the wings of Jewel Beetles to create this piece which was then shipped to England in 1882.

I love using drums as little tables. We have a South Indian mridangam drum in our living room (click the image to see a blog post about using drums in living spaces).
I would love to add this drum to my collection — it’s gorgeous! Made of bone and embossed leather. I don’t know how I feel about the “bone” part, honestly, though.
